> Let's look at Sylvan as a pack of animals. The animal in charge(alpha-male/female, silverback, whatever) is always exerting and displaying their superiority over the rest. Whether it's coming up and snapping at the other until they tuck tail and show deference or if it's biting a lesser pack-member on the neck until they "submit". Pack animals always have a very clear hierarchy that is readily noticeable just by watching them for even just an hour. Flipping out on somebody for admitting their place in the hierarchy seems retarded, especially given all of the instances in nature where an underling that doesn't show deference gets the smacketh down laid upon their candy-ass. If you're going to protect nature and call yourself a "pack" why not emulate nature to the extreme instead of ignoring one important part of animal relations? I mean, you've got the "sex like mammals" part in sylvan, why not take the rest :) > The above is part of the reason I can't see the leader being called Captain. The word "captain" certainly lends itself more to an organized society whether it be the "Captain of the Guards" or the "ship's captain" and whatnot. There has to be a better title for the leader of Sylvan then "captain". "Leader of the Pack" is a 50's song I think and I'd not want to be called that 'cause that's what I'd always think of(along with the cheesy motorcycle noises played in the background). "Alpha-male/female" seems alright. Isn't the dominant male in a group of gorillas called the "silverback?" What's the dominant male in a lion pride called? There has to be something.
