Exactly.. I think that's what I said. The question that
was asked wondered if a Battle god could have a marked
mage. For example, could a transmuter be horn marked? If
so, could the god be seen as being a traitor to Battle?

First off, I believe you can have a hornmarked mage. Would
Holtzendorff be seen as a traitor? Treason is a mortal concept.
The rules of Battle are a mortal concept.
You can't hold gods accountable to mortal rules, and mortal
concepts, IMHO.

Historically, there have been magic wielding/using priests
and assassins of Nimbus.

In terms of the cabal itself..

The gods are the accountability factor in each of the cabals.
They are the people to whom you are ultimately responsible.
If you are going to form a group of people to protect nature,
it stands to reason the gods of nature will watch over you,
and hold you accountable for your actions.

The gods are not responsible to you (depending on role, alignment
etc etc).

In the CF universe, man does not create gods.
