The Onyx Scarab is used to mark the followers of Cyradia.

The Ruby Scarab is used to mark the followers of Scarabaeus.

Their helpfiles explain a lot of what that involves. Also, any Initiate could likely handle it, if you find a way to ask them without looking weak.
