I agree with PB here as well but... The nature of CF is a PK-RP mud. Theives need help in both departments IMHO. Add unique skills that emphaize stealth, deceit etc. (like those sugested). But in terms of fighting skills (and thieves must kill 523 trollocs to achieve hero too :), thieves are lacking. The peak is _at_ 30. Afterwards things go downhill. So that's the probelm then (and this is had somewhat with mages): One has to kill something to prgoress but the nature of the thief class is more on, err, theiving, not killing. Hence the need for some more tricks in the damage department. As to warriors being warriors and weaponmasters, fine. But thieves could perhaps be given a few toned down spec-like moves with dagger that are dex-based. Right now they have BS, cirlce, knife and DBS. And it just isn't enough for hero ranks. My suggestions, off the top of my head: Remove shield block adn use of shield. No, it's not play-tested and 100% balanced but you get the idea. A thief that could really engage in theivery without getting waxed.
(This is a differnt topic but I've never understood wht assassins and thieves can use a shield.)
Thives can dodge dirt kicking, bashes and trips.
Add underhand-like attack after level 30.
Dual wield and enhanced dam about 7 ranks earlier.
Add, pretty much, all the skills mentioned above.
Also, a thief needs something to live for after lvl 30.
