1. Subaverage is separated from Average by recognition of certain PK truisms. QuestionA. Do you ALWAYS attack first? QuestionB: Do you ALWAYS type "where pk" every other command, and "who pk" every every other? 2. Average is separated from Good by preparation. QuestionA: Before **EVERY** battle, are you sskinned/shielded/barriered/aura'd/hasted/flying/enlarge-reduced(depending)/sanc'd/protected/et al? QuestionB: Before **EVERY** battle, have you already given thought to how you're going to limit the other guys ability to escape (enabled your ability to escape)? Now, there is a floating, hidden stat here called "innate talent/skills" that is somewhat similar to the CF stat "luck." This "innate talent/skills" can be honed through intense playing and experience. This skill allows you to jump between the above three categories, either forward or backward, and also opens up a new category for you: Eliteness. Unfortunately, Eliteness is a continuim, meaning, even if you have reached the "good" stage, you might be the least elite out of a long line of elites. You can also lose your eliteness if you allow your "innate talent/skills" factor to atrophy (through hacking on less-skilled people or just through not playing). Sources: Gareth/Triste/Ihlrath. Whether you realize it or not, he was not *just* attitude and "innate talents/skills". He never went into a fight unless he was completely, completely, completely prepared. Nepenthe/Ahdhra. Nepenthe (Ahdhra) defined the "skill factor" for me by commenting on a fight we had against a group of evils that included Grimaldi. Ahdhra landed a healing curse on Grimaldi, a drow healer, and Grimaldi proceeded to spend the rest of the battle futilty spamming "rejuvenate" on himself, allowing his groupmates to die and nearly dying himself. Conclusions: I agree with the Pumpkin King/Arcane. There are either alot less "elite PKers" now, or I just have gotten good enough that it seems that way (which I highly doubt). On CF, there are maybe 10-20 people that are ALWAYS prepared (qualifying as good), and out of those, the continuim of natural "skills/talents" is on the lower end (in my opinion). Arolin is an elite on the lower end (in my opinion) because he allowed his skills (whatever they were or might have been) to atrophy through repeated permagrouping and a massive unfounded ego. Fini
