> First I'd like to address the recent 'cf isn't as good as it used to be' mentality that's being spread around the forum as of late. I disagree, it's easy to look back at 'when I first played' and think, wow...those were the golden days. However, very rarely are things as we remember them. I dearly loved when I knew very little of the game, and had that wild-eyed wonder about it all...and let's face it, the game was a little easier. Well, as with the staff, the playerbase...the game itself has grown up a lot. Is this bad? I don't think so. Does it make it harder to become 'elite' (whatever the hell that word means, since we -- the general CF populace -- can't even decide on a meaning for the damned word). Yes. Here's my question though, are you playing this game to be elite? Or are you playing to have fun? We all want to have a character that is remembered, loved, feared, loathed, etc...but I think a lot of times there's this push from the vocal few here on the forum, who can't see past thier own inabilities to just play and enjoy the game, to be better. May I be the first to say, this is crap. Play to enjoy yourself, play to enjoy the game...to hell if you're remembered well, or remembered at all.
> Let's see, next up...the focus of the game. A few weeks ago someone asked on the newbie channel 'how do you win the game?'...and after I boggled a bit, and came close to firing off a sarcastic comment, I thought about the question. I realised it's the same damned question I see asked on this forum quite frequently....I see the question of 'what's the best race for this class' or 'what's the best cabal for this race/class'...for the love of god people! What class do you want to play? What race do you want to play? What cabal do you want to play? I'll admit even I'm guilty of listening to the peer pressure of the forum from time to time. When I deleted Grislan I remember in the back of my head actually thinking 'oh crap, I'm going to get roasted on the forum'...how shiteful is that? To address the concern that CF is based on heroing...it's not. That's a misconception, you should be enjoying the ride to hero, and then just continue the flow once you're there. To me, it's not about who can be the most powerful, or who can be the best of the best...it's about when all is said in done, you being able to sit back and say 'hey that was fun.'
> Since I'm rambling, I'll also...and as much as I'd like to think it's the last time, I know it won't be, say there are no immortal conspiracies. Trust me, I'm not as clueless as I seem to be....nor am I one to just trust anyone. I'll admit I don't see everything that people do...but i see quite a bit of it. You've got a good staff running this game, and more to the point...you have a human staff running this game. We're human, treat us like it...and for those of you who have the anti-authority hang ups, please...we're human. None of the immstaff is out to get anyone, we all have people we dislike for various reasons (and they vary greatly from person to person), but we'd be in poor shape if we let that get in our way of running this game.

I just have a couple quick comments, and in the end I hope this thread just fades away into nothing.

The biggest problem here is perception. I can name a few events over the past couple of years that I
perceive to be questionable. I am the first to admit that I do not have all of the facts, which is why
I do not make baseless accusations. However, if I have these perceptions it stands to reason that others
share the same ones. In the greater scheme of things, I just do not care enough. It is a game. What the
immortals decide to do with this game does not effect me. If there is a time when I stop having fun, I
will walk away. In any fledging company, perception is everything. It is common sense that you do not
put yourself into potential situations where your credibility can be questioned. Everytime someone questions
an immortals credibility is reflects on the entire staff. Where is Cador when you need him?

The thread on the second or third page brings another point to mind. SphereMaker proceeds to make an utter
ass of himself, and the rest of the staff. By all means defend yourself when you feel it is necessary, but
when you resort to petty name calling and belittling, how do you think that reflects on the rest of the staff.
The argument that he's only human is getting quite old. When there is a need to be mature, professional adults,
trading petty insults about toilet paper, who failed the LSAT, and someone's penis size does not help your
cause.

In the final analysis, the immortals have developed a kick ass game that is a tremendous amount of fun. I hope
to continue to enjoy my experiences here.
