I dunno, I guess I always thought it was sort of cool synthesizing these seemingly disparate worlds into a unique tapestry of sorts. CF has developed its own mythos, where it's perfectly acceptable roleplay to have been raised to be a Pandion Knight in the Basilica (Eddings), but decided to pursue the study of magic in the White Tower (Jordan) instead. Being able to relate some of the RP concepts to familiar fantasy also probably enhances roleplay for those whose imaginations aren't incredibly vivid, but who are at least familiar with the fantasy works in question.
