For non-empowerement chars, roles are completely not needed (for the most part). They are useful when your roleplaying something that is not totally obvious to the imms. In most cases your roleplay is obvious and if the imms want to find out what it is they can bloody well snoop you. So if your char is not expecting or wanting mortal-immortal interaction, then there is no point making a role.
Role is basically ooc, i shouldn't affect the strength of your char.
