Also, the preparation that is popularly required
nowadays is much more extensive than back in the
"Golden Days." The general feeling I got back then
was that things like petite's, scrolls, and potions
weren't as important, preparation wasn't as important,
and therefore, players who bothered with these things
could really rip into the "average player."

Sadly, my theory is all based upon guesses, as game
mechanics may have changed since then, but it's my
theory, based on "feels" and popular trends, pretty
scientific, eh?
