> The reason I was so disappointed with the Serpentwar was because I expected so much more. Maybe it was because I read Riftwar when I was in my early teens, and things seem so much better at that age. Serpentwar had the makings of a fantastic saga, to me. A great world, great races, interesting characters. I thought it started out well, then became a soap opera to me. This person is sleeping with this person, who is cheating on that person. I got a bit fed up with the 'tune in next time!' Batmanesque way he ended chapters and books.
> That being said, my personal philosophy remains that all books are good. Any reading is good. As long as you're reading, be it a comic book, or Proust, you're okay in my book.
The 2nd book "The Merchant Prince" (I think?) is very much as you described and didnt rate that highly with me (prefer the action and hack and slash). The biggest problem I had was with Pug and Thomas - Feist seems to have to create situations to keep them out of the story because they are simply waaaaay overpowered (You have basically a master invoker with tesseract and spells that can level cities and a giant battle rager who is perma hasted, no vulns and is practically immune to spells :P
Reading is all good -just wish books would come down in price.
