Here's my suggestion. Make other spells (detect invis, invis, haste, invoker shields...) act like water breathing, i.e. when cast one someone who is already affected, the duration simply resets to its original value.

It's extremely annoying before a lengthy battle to have to sit there and wait for spells to run out before renewing them...and from an in-character perspective, it seems like spells *should* work that way.
