> I don't look at is as f*cking anyone over, the way I see it, if you snip the weak branches you get a stronger try. As in if you get rid of the weaker characters just in it for the powers, and cut Battle down to its core beliefs and virtues and such, it will make players want to make better roleplayed and better made characters. The reason why Battle has been in a slump isn't because of the liches in my opinion, it's been because too many of Battle just play for the powers *or* simply don't well think, well plan, or have any initiative towards their character. Perhaps the reason why the Masters are so powerful or why the Scarabites still lay a bit of smackdown once in a while, is because those players are usually more thought out, and being a mage, you *have* to perfect all your skills and really *want* to see your character into lichdom or hero. Maybe by making it less appealing for the weaker characters or characters who just don't give a damn, in a few weeks or months you'll see a stronger more united Village. I cant comment on current village - i havent played in what a month or so - but...
perfecting skills is boring - its not fun - it shouldnt be a pre-req for anything. Check the char board goodbye notes and the posts about what they think the worst things are and "practicing" comes out pretty high. Every person I inducted I spent about 1hour with them, interviewing, making them talk to other people etc... I did practically nothing but talk to people (and it really became tiresome).
you dont have to perfect stuff as a mage to hero... I never did (as a transmuter). Conjies certainly dont need to perfect a damn thing.
