The answer to all these question is really easy: Archery can only be used against PC's. Just like tigerclaw, just like call lightning. And, yes, like call lightning, you could spam something like 'shot xxx xxx mouse' to go through the motions (heck, how about an archery range where you would pay to practice).

So, it's easy, the difficuties are NOT insurmountable. And, heh, give me archery over morale anyday :)
