Essentially, with emote you can make any sentence appear on the screen to everyone in your room. The only limitations are that the sentence: 1) Begins with your name, and not a possessive form of it. (Example: There's no way do have an emote show up that reads: "ProudBlade's eyes flare as he realizes a Forum Rule has been broken!" You have to work around the possessive thing. *coughNewCommandcough* =) Of course, the mighty powers of Troupe can break some of the above rules, but that's because they're overpowered and the IMMs all hate you.
2) Ignores color protocols. On my screen a "say" turns up yellow, but all emotes look the same color (white) as most of the text.
3) Has no game effect at all. The commands with an emote-like interface (rest, etc.) allow you to put a sentence up on the screen, and have it do something (like change your position from stand to rest), so they're a little nicer in that regard.
