There isn't an influx of new people this isn't because of lack of advertisements but rather a social trend. Not so much in reading skills but in better games out-there. When I first started to play CF, there wasn't even Diablo. Now, just look at all the heavily graphical MUD-like games you can play. For a fee of like $30. Nobody gets muds anymore, really go to some mud webpages you'll have to dust them off from like '96. I think that the only way to get the player base up is to poach from other muds. Log in, use their entire world chats against them with a quick "Yo, screw this play Carrion Fields at: Carrionfields.org port:9999 is way better than this!"
