I never ranted as an invoker but that's because it was all so very new to me... Strelno (gnome master invoker, for those who somehow didn't know) was my second hero. There are people that flat-out will not group with you if you don't have a certain spell. It's nearly impossible to just focus on one or two elemental paths. I've gone to group with people who's first question was "Do you have all your shields?" When I responded that I had five, they wouldn't travel with me. I can't imagine telling them I had two and was only learned in a couple of paths. It's senseless. I know there are classes that are screaming for revamps (thieves seem to stick out in my mind) but invokers are nearly senseless. The spells they get at high levels are impressive to say the least. Nova, pillar, iceshards, geyser... They all had a tendency to do unspeaks. But, (admittedly I wasn't in a huge rush to perfect everything) I perfected my last shield at 262 hours. That's with max int and a tome. Maybe if some of the
low level spells were more useful (like stoneshatter, which I can't recall ever using) then some of the work involved in perfection wouldn't have seemed nearly so bad. Yes, I perfected everything, but I had the time to do it. I was one of about 3 invoker heroes in Thera the majority of the time I was up that high (as some of the ragers could no doubt confirm.) I don't know what I'm trying to say here, but how about this to sum it up. You don't get groups unless you're well versed in all elemental paths. You don't get well versed unless you spend ungodly time spamming. The final spells are worth it (I think) but absurdly time-consuming to reach. In one word-- "RIDICULOUS!"
