Transmuters can pick their major and minor, there's no reason why an invoker wouldn't be able to pick their three paths. I see a lot of roleplay opportunities. The gnome that doesn't practice in earth because he's afraid he'll mess up and suffer a horrible death when a stray pebble bashes him to death. An arial who avoids practicing water and lightning because he's afraid of surrounding himself in a shield made up of them even though he'd benefit most from those particular shields. Yadda Yadda Yadda
