Robert Jordan is OVEREXTENDED beyond belief. He really should've stopped at 3 or 4 books as he could've just as easily told the story in that amount of time. It could've been an A+ quality work, but as is it's about a solid B. It's a good read, but it's overlong and is at times slow going. I'm still reading it myself(Book 6), but I'm to the point now where I skip chapters if they don't look like they're going to interest me. If it has aiel, ogier, or one of three main male characters I'll read it, but that shit with Nynaeve and those other chicks sitting around talking and shit I can't do. Must be my shortened American attention span.

I'd read them both, but I'd have started with Tolkien just 'cause it'll make you feel like you got something accomplished. Jordan is probably still fucking righting books in the series.
