When you put Re: in your subject line ... um why?

Normally when summing up ideas, a paragraph is created giving many examples of something. Above the paragraph a short 'synopsis' can be created.
'Re: blah blah' - this sums the paragraph up.
This is the 'subject' line on this Forum.

On the Forum we all know the subject and name of the poster, self evident. Just wondering why you place a 'Re: blah blah' with N/T after it.

I don't really expect you have an answer, don't worry about replying to this unless there is something I don't get.
