>> The tradeoff of course is that you're a social retard.

That's not really true, or fair to say. Any naivete' and other 'social lag' can be made up right quickly in your first or second year in college.

Now, I know firsthand this can be true if the homeschooling is an attempt by overly religious zealot parents to protect them from the 'sinful masses', but even then those types tend to catch up right quick even at 'Christian colleges', the stereotype actually goes your average Catholic college girl is going to be wilder than your normal secular public schooler.

It can be argued there's fewer chances to make mistakes and a greater propensity to think critically, but I've seen plenty of homeschooled kids, part or in full, choose to go wild, blow it all and totally ruin any chance they had at a middle to upper-class future as well. Society really doesn't know what to make of these kids one way or the other, and honestly it takes a hell of alot of money, time, and the ability to survive on a single family income to pull that crap off.
My work ethic is excellent as a result, but my self-discipline is actually pretty shit in regards to setting aside time to study. I'm a little weak in math but I actually excel in writing essays, have little to no fear of public speaking, etc. etc. etc.
