I know Martin is supposedly 7 books, but it reads like a trilogy right now IMO

The fourth book reads like a long epilogue heading into a new trilogy. The only story that didn't really climax and resolve itself in the third book was the dragongirl (and I always skipped those chapters anyway - yawn). I like that he kills off major characters - I think that's why in my mind it crosses over from fantasy into fictional tragedy and makes it possible for me to recommend it to non-fantasy-types.

Eragon was engaging, but I wouldn't call it "good". txt

It's not surprising. The guy who wrote it is younger than most of us.

If you were to insert Martin where you typed Jordan and vice versa
