> And I even started on the sequel. It was just a little too odd for my liking. I tend to not like super fantastical fantasy as well. I picked it up through a recommendation from Novelist when I did a search for dystopian/post-apocalyptic sci-fi. I think I had just read something by Octavia Butler and was looking for more of the same. Clearly it was very well written and the fact that he strayed away from the cliche "hero on long quest to save world in a series" type of sci-fi certainly earned him much kudos from the award giving community. That said, I'm not a big fan of creature type fantasy. And the interspecies relationship thing is kind of a thumbs down in my book. Just my own personal preference.
