Why can't you have mechanical rewards that aren't overkill?
Example : 3rd legacy - not overkill. 3rd spec - overkill. Quest form that is about 10% better than an existing form - fine. Quest form that dodges like a mongoose, hits like a lion and pounces? Overkill. Imm given weapon that is nodisarm avg 28 - fine. Imm given weapon that is avg 31 and progs acid blast, damnation and forget? Overkill. See where I'm going with this?
Edited to add: I just don't get why people don't understand that to a lot of us, the major appeal of this game is player vs player combat. And the way this game is designed, you need to be able to retain gear and seal kills as pre-reqs to winning at PVP. Hence, rewards that interfere with that balance, skew the playing field and make any sort of PVP achievement meaningless. All the stats are thrown off, all the competition is broken. If you're playing CF like D&D, you probably don't care but if you're playing CF like chess - these kind of issues are a big deal to you and I feel like there *is* a compromise and it just involves having rewards that don't fundamentally mess with people's ability to get away from combat or shift the balance in a huge way.
