Stories were only whispered about the silent blade of Verathi in rooms with
barred doors and well-lit rooms. They were spread by shaken men that had
heard them second or third-hand themselves. The few details that matched
between each story were startling. It was always a nondescript arial killing
a powerful target in the most improbable of places before escaping unscathed.
Little truths ever surfaced as he faded from the mouths of men, though those
who watched carefully noticed a pattern. The intended victims were often
strong mages or those who protected them.
Verathi had always cared little for mages, generally considered the most
intelligent scholars. Yet when battle came, they were often no different
than a giant using pure brute force to win. Instead of swinging weapons
they would blast their opponent with the same spell repeatedly. He had
begun hunting them heavily to show how easy it was to out think them, and
in the end only took on the most intelligent of warriors who could prove a
match. As stories of him faded, another tale rose of an aged bird who walked
proudly through the gates of Asgaard and stepped past the forge to join the
Immortal Lords of Battle.
Those who would be followers of Verathi are more than the mere sum of their
parts, they have walked their own path to achieve victory. Some have
accomplished this by carefully remaining unseen while waiting for the
perfect time to strike. Others have spent countless hours studying tomes
and mastering their abilities. A few have clawed their way to the top
against all odds. True followers of Verathi find that knowledge and stealth
feed on each other. They spend time studying tomes of the past while
understanding the application and adaptation of them is where true knowledge
lies. The more they know, the better they can conceal and adapt their
strategies. While the better they mask their moves and intentions, the more
their opponents reveal to them.
His followers have gathered in an Enclave where they study and train. It
is said to be near a dock on a quiet inlet. Those that are dull witted will
have a hard time finding a place there. Berserkers who seek him will have to
[Hit Return to continue]till maintain rational thought. He will listen to
none until they prove their ability and patience in finding the Enclave.
