Well.... Thanks. Here's my thoughts on your suggestion and a few more.
Paladin - I've had one empowered paladin many, many years ago. An Elf. But, this was back when XP holes existed and he got so far into xp debt it was pointless to continue.
Druid - I've tried a Druid a couple of times. I have a great role for one but that whole 'can only used blessed wood' thing just kills me. I have no clue where to get those kind of weapons and, without 'transmute' until you do get empowered, well it sucks.
Shaman - Many years ago, I attempted a Shaman, never got empowered and my chosen deity just vanished (this was before you could keep going).
Bard - And, once upon a time, long ago, I attempted a Bard. Wasn't crazy about the play style but, I have to admit the one or two PK fights he was in, he did a pretty decent job of surviving. Now though, as @Stevers so ably pointed out, I'd piss off herald because I'd immediately beat anyone who even THOUGH about mudsex. (Then again, they may like that. *shrug*)
Ranger - Tried one long ago. Cloud Giant. One of my few pk's. Ran into Galadon and found my target talking to an Imm no less... in the coffin maker's store.. So, I killed him right in front of the Imm. Again, dug an xp hole I couldn't get out of. Died a LOT. That was the only character I ever had that got awarded a title.
Healer - Never really tried one.
Tranny - I'm actually pretty good at. I've got a whole button targeting system for them that works well. My biggest problem there is you HAVE to have a group. If you log in late at nite and nobody even close to you is on, you don't have the option of going out solo. You just get beat senseless. My big fear is that you glue yourself to some warriors ass till hero that you still couldn't go out and solo explore. Kinda pointless to have a hero that can't do shit without someone else's help.
Shifter - not my style, period. I'd hate them.
Necro - One of the few PK fights I can say I won was with a necro. Orc tried to gank me and I slept him in a room with a door. Would love to have one but that whole 'the becoming' thing worries me. I'm not that good at RP.
Assassin - I've had some success with them but they get boring.
AP - Tried them dozens of times and they seem to get to the point that you can't solo any more.
Thief - Would LOVE to have one but, see AP
Conji - Had a tribby Gnome once many years ago... dug himself an xp hole that was just insurmountable.
Invoker - OMG the sitting in guild spamming spells just bored me to utter tears. And even then couldn't solo if I couldn't find a group.
Warrior - The one everyone suggests. Well, my first ever char was a Fire Giant. Two guys drug my noob ass around, handing me gear and just kept telling me to 'whirl'. I've tried once or twice since then and the worst part is that feeling of total blindness. If you don't know where the preps are to see invis or you don't have the money, to me, it's like sticking your head in a guillotine.
So those are just the memorable ones. I've tried literally a few hundred characters and something always became or becomes, insurmountable to me. Just like this last one. I died and was 10k xp to level and the only place I could find to gain xp, I was getting 50-70 xp per kill. And that 10k was after I'd already spent hours whittling 8k down to 3k. So here I envisioned spending hours, if not days, getting that 10k hole cleared up and just before I gained a level... bang, dead again. And the worst part was I saw no viable place to go solo even if I did gain a level. And I even went to places I've never been before. Followed the qhcf areas guide and all of them had 'issues' that made it a SERIOUS grind or a death sentence.
Now had I been getting 150-200 xp per mob, I'd have considered not deleting... but 200 mobs? No... I'm not a masochist.
