Thoughts on a dagger spec

I was thinking of trying a dex dagger spec and taking dagger first. My biggest concern is that dagger doesn't seem like the greatest first spec, given that daggers are poor in defense. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions or suggestions?

PvE would likely be the main focus although PK is unavoidable so there's going to be a fair bit of that as well (n/t)

Dagger is fine as first spec on a dexy build that depends on dodge not parry.
