Trapper Thief Question - Advanced Pick & Gentle Walk

As someone who knows little about trapper ingredients (except the few I saw enemy imperial thieves run for a couple years ago when I last played)...

How critical is Gentle Walk and/or Advanced Picklock to getting the best trapper ingredients?

I'm running some tight template ideas and trying to see if I could be successful without either one or both.
