Without going into a ton of detail, Shokai intended for Dawn (Now Acolyte) to really be the main good cabal. You'd have to get it straight from him, but he and I had many talks about it, basically the idea that "good" people running around killing "bad" people is suspect. Killing is nearly an act of evil, so most people should go with the goody helper cabal. Only the RP elite could handle being a Maran, a hunter of darkness.
