Monks:
Pre Battle, set your Anticipate(Bash for Giants, Pincer for axe specs, Neuro for Muters)
Make sure AVOID IS UP. If you died, it does not auto renew. Not doing this has killed me more than once.
Prep a little bit(Over prep and they won't stay around for more than a round of the intensify if that.)
If you go Maran, your Phoenix brand will follow your attack type for Light or Holy. I started using Light as my default, because it seemed harder to prep for than holy. But getting a holy vuln going, and Divine lightning, will make people sad pandas when you hit them and they've prepped for the lightning damage and not the holy, or the Duergar who's running away almost dead, thinking lightning damage and he takes holy.
Not a hand spec warrior, or assassin:
respond;co wrath;intensify; Call lightning
Hand Spec Warrior or Assassin:
Flamestrike, Check DR on opponent for a round, if your hitting for decent amounts Intensify; Call lightning.
These will vary depending on your virtues a little bit, but bread and butter, this is what a monk does. You're right to time intensify on something like a missed bash, or pincer. I killed more than one assassin on a missed assassinate with an immediate intensify.
I've only played a couple of Champions, but here would be my button mash:
Wrath, marshall rally, bat; bat;;bat call lightning
YMMV on Champions, but I think I have the record on the most successful monks.
Like I said, I might at some point put a FAQ on the Wiki, if I feel so inclined.
