I kid.
I see where you're coming from, but am pretty convinced you're wrong in CF terms. There are very clear definitions of morality and ethos in the helpfiles. Neutrality is never an indication of guilt unless you have witnessed an action that sways evil. Even then, they have not been judged by the gods to be evil. Ultimately the gods decide who is innocent and who isn't. A red aura is clearly not innocent. No aura (grey?) is ambiguous. Gold aura is innocent.
There could be some further discussion on defining the term innocent, but it seems fairly plain to me that it means "not-evil" in CF terms.
EDIT: Just some more thoughts. A good guy or even Maran might determine that a neutral is slipping towards evil and should be dealt with before they are taken completely by it. An acolyte most definitely wants to guide that neutral toward good. I'd argue a paladin, by the code, must take the Acolyte's approach even if they are a Maran.
FWIW, I deal with this stuff a lot because I often play neutrals. Good guys almost always end up being complete dickish assholes to me and evil guys always end up being my best buds. So strange to me.
