Never played a villager, I like word of recall too much!!
But as mage I interacted with goodie villagers.
They talk to you. Trying to explain why you wrong. They will not group with you but they will not attack you.
They can kill you. If you in group with neutral mage. They will attack him and if you actively assist they "will have to kill you" sorry man, but you fighted back when I was destroying magic.
Also. Sometimes goodies fight goodies. During the war between fortress and Tree Sun branch assisted on reraids. Not sure about raids.
And there were fights between good players.
Also. Goodie is not a friend to every other goodie.
He can hate you. But it worth not killing. His hate to evil and neutral mages much stronger, so it worth killing.
Yet, he believes that he can talk you to avoid magic,
The logic is simple. Magic is evil. You - good. This sinergy is not logical and unnatural. Which means that either you will give up the "evil art of magic" or you will become comletely evil (as good villager think). Both ways suit him. In first case - you gave up and not a mage any more. In second case you not good anymore and he can kill you.
I see nothing hard in roleplaying this role. Actually it is even easier then evil or neutral. You can avoid fights if you not ready. You can try to talk even with neutral mage.
The hardest things are - role and too much talking.
