The only reason to play MUDs nowdays - is the text UI that makes it safe to play right on your job.

Unfortunately many companies and many default firewall configurations deny all ports but POP/IMAP/SMTP/HTTP(S)

And many people do not know how to play using mobile connection or ssh proxy.

Open connection on 443 port. carrionfields.net does not have the https version anyway.

You discuss here how to save the MUD.. Make it more accessible. Easier to access.
or.. someone can rent SSH and make a IP forwarder there. Accept 80 forward to MUD.
And make it public.

Also you will be able to dump their char passwords. But who cares anyway.
