I may recall it being a combination, but I think save vs. mental played a role. Save vs. paralysis is not hard to find. When there were challenging trannies in my range, I'd get a bunch of light non-limited save v paralysis gear and keep it in my sack for when they were around. You can search by saves on the item database for a bunch of them. Off the top of my head: robe from head monk in monastary, a couple items in Hamsah pier, rings from the captain of the golden whorl (day of gods morning I think). If you can handle the weight, iron armor from castle of barovia is -10 svs per item. Save v mental I found harder to find and get. There are bracelets somewhere that are -5 each I think (drow house in Underdark maybe?) But, there are some save v mental potions that help a lot that can be bought or bartered for. North of Dagdan for one. My rager thief usually had about -60 to -80 save v. paralysis once I put on my kit. I wish I could recall my save v mental. v spell was usually in the same range as paralysis. I never worried about being jolted for more than a round or two if that against transmuters the same level (42).
