""I played 5 paladins in a row with hopes of experiences or trying out all of the different virtues. It was a nightmare... It didn't happen. Paladin 1 was trash, first character in 25 years. Paladin 2 was a provincial, Paladin 3 was a provincial, paladin 4 was provost and paladin 5 was a provincial. I don't make that statement as a bragging point(though yes it is sad I played 5 paladins in a row), but as a point that I do try to put some effort into the characters I play and help the game."
Soooooooooooooooo............................... those 5 paladins were all unempowered too? If so then I completely get why they would be frustrated. I have a feeling some of those paladins WERE empowered."
1st paladin was my first character in 20 years or so... Not empowered for most of the characters time. TBH I didn't care and also didn't realize it made a difference. Didn't even know that there were virtues to get. Was shocked to find CF still up and running so I rolled a character. I was relearning the game so I expected to delete and start a new char. I didn't seek it out till the end.
2,3,4 and 5 were all empowered. The experience was a mix bag (I posted a bit about this on main). Some progress very very slow some fast. Its all luck and timing. I went to the same imm who's play time seemed to align with mine for 3 of them and a different imm for 1 of them.
My general observation base on discord comments is people tend to gravitate towards "the" active imm who is online often... IE all the goodies going to Azzorine! maybe I am seeing things that aren't real...
I think that took place over a 2 year period or somewhere close to that... This characters experience has been more challenging, but the state of the world is a lot different to, its understandable and there is also a few things about the situation that I haven't posted. No issues with any of the original imm, its just different play times. T
he system is just weird. I was picking on additional flaws in it. The main point of that gripe is also the fact I played 5 paladins. What was i thinking? I know what, I wanted to try specific combos of paladin spec/virtue. For 3 of them, The virtues I got were randomly picked by imm. It would be nice to be able to pick the virtues you get. I dropped big big big big hints with the 4th... It worked out, but there weren't active enemies to try it out on so yeah.
Unlike pallies... Shaman's have to pic a imm with the path or paths you want. People know this right? Which ultimately makes you have to go to a specific person... Then the miss match of gameplay times and you get a derped out character like Dref... Sad part is I am holding my own against most people.
To clarify here...
"Like Ish pointed out, switching imms/religions kinda raises the bar. They WERE given a quest though. They person who posted that also sort of contradicts themself with this statement.
"The imm is at least nice/fun enough to have some basic roleplay chats with me an send me on a quest. Which in itself was even more frustrating since they could of at least done basic empowerment. The quest could of given me a path."
So it was nice and fun, but also frustrating?"
I personally don't feel I switched religions since my contact with the initial imm never happened. There is more to this story btw... However It WAS nice finally getting to chat with new imm and get stuff rolling... Never talked to them before so it was something new to experience. Which seems rare these days.
However the frustration is the realization that it's going to take another 40 hours to complete the initial empowerment for the character. Figuring out the quest... Meeting up with them again. IE I've never seen them on. EVER except that one time... That is in addition to time spent finding their shrine. Digging around solo, bugging people in the cabal.
So I have no idea when they play. I just got preconditioned from the first try with my derpy shammy char that I won't get a response from imms... Pray, notes and tells etc... Assuming its the beard?
