OK serious question: do you play competitive games? Like Risk?

what happened to putting plusses on stuff?

Empowerment is a drawback for clerics
Random is a drawback for shifters
Spamming is a drawback for invokers
Spamming is a drawback for assassins.

Why does allowing people to chose forms make them in the top 3 classes to play? What the hell is wrong with having ENJOYMENT?

Because all the competitive games I like to play have considerable drawbacks associated with different options. Like in Risk, you can go for Australia and get your 2 points a turn and have a really strong defense against attackers... but then you are stuck with your entire army in Australia. That is a serious drawback. What you're suggesting is IMO like someone saying "What happened to my ENJOYMENT of the game of Risk????? WHY CAN'T I DRAW A SHIPPING LINE FROM AUSTRALIA TO NORTH AMERICA?? That would make Australia so much more ENJOYABLE!"

I mean, there are rules to the game that makes all options roughly equally attractive. That aspect is important for competitive games. If you want to change the rules, fine, but you can't get rid of the drawbacks or one option will always be the most desirable and the game gets old, FAST.

I appreciate al the feedback because I think these points of view are interesting, but I can't help feeling that you have no idea what I am talking about which may be an error in my communication.

Shift Forms Poll txt

Gabe(VIP) January 08, 2008 04:53AM

What would happen if they allowed shifters to select their exact forms.txt

phoenix January 09, 2008 07:44PM

That's interesting. I've played three hero shifters, and had different major/minor's for all of them.

Sam January 10, 2008 05:14PM

That's like saying "if warriors can choose specs there would be nothing but axe specs." n/t

Death_Claw January 10, 2008 05:36AM

I think you all forget one important thing...

ekvilibr January 08, 2008 08:11PM

Any class is easier to rank with a permagroup

Some commets

Dwoggurd January 08, 2008 05:34AM

Just quickly, since for some reason I got banned again on officials even though I couldn't post due to computer problems...

laearrist January 08, 2008 09:36AM

I do really like random forms for my shifters n/t

Woland January 08, 2008 06:22AM

Great

Dwoggurd January 08, 2008 09:12AM

I'd not be so happy to be facing tiger eagle # 50 nt

daurwyn(VIP) January 11, 2008 03:05PM

With bat for third tier

daurwyn(VIP) January 11, 2008 03:05PM

The game should't have different rules depending on players' wishes, hey. n/t

Woland January 09, 2008 09:48AM

It's less biased than your shape of the poll.

DurNominator(VIP) January 08, 2008 06:11AM

And

Dwoggurd January 08, 2008 09:11AM

To answer your question below, yes, I think shifters need that disadvantage.

Balrahd(VIP) January 08, 2008 09:43AM

If I roll a shifter

Dwoggurd January 08, 2008 10:49AM

Yeah, I gotta agree with you there. Some forms are the super/duper exploring forms, and some are super/duper pk forms. NT

Sam January 10, 2008 05:19PM

This doesn't make any sense.

Death_Claw January 08, 2008 10:44AM

Re: This doesn't make any sense.

Balrahd(VIP) January 08, 2008 11:11AM

I would say there's a significant enough gap that it doesn't warrant being random.

Death_Claw January 08, 2008 12:24PM

Just for shit's sake, there is no anaconda anymore :) NT

Sam January 10, 2008 05:21PM

And Jaguar is probably better than it was these days.

DurNominator(VIP) January 11, 2008 12:24AM

The problem:

Re: The problem:

Death_Claw January 09, 2008 02:02PM

Yes, that's true, I have never ended up with crappy forms. n/t

Balrahd(VIP) January 09, 2008 03:31PM

I like your point of view on the subject. ~

_Magus_ January 09, 2008 03:24PM

Why oh WHY do we have to have DRAWBACKS?

Graham January 09, 2008 09:35AM

OK serious question: do you play competitive games? Like Risk?

Balrahd(VIP) January 09, 2008 03:29PM

Re: OK serious question: do you play competitive games? Like Risk?

Graham January 10, 2008 07:35AM

I think the common thread with all those "drawbacks"

Death_Claw January 10, 2008 05:31AM

Good point. ~

_Magus_ January 11, 2008 12:38AM

Re: Why oh WHY do we have to have DRAWBACKS?

Death_Claw January 09, 2008 02:14PM

Why oh why is the forum fubar? nt

DurNominator(VIP) January 09, 2008 11:53AM

How about

Dwoggurd January 08, 2008 11:24AM

That makes sense.

Balrahd(VIP) January 08, 2008 06:34PM

The randomness makes it interesting

DurNominator(VIP) January 08, 2008 09:12AM

Because the pot-luck makes shifting interesting. Why would anyone pick anything but the same-old power combos?

Yhorian(VIP) January 08, 2008 05:50AM

My points againts randomness are still valid

Dwoggurd January 08, 2008 09:16AM

Agreed.

Death_Claw January 08, 2008 10:18AM

How do you justify handing out inferior combos to people with 200 hours?

Death_Claw January 08, 2008 07:28AM

Why not play warrior with random spec then?

ekvilibr January 08, 2008 06:03AM

That made no sense. Shifters aren't nearly as stat/race dependant as warriors. nt

Yhorian(VIP) January 08, 2008 06:05AM

I disagree

Graham January 08, 2008 10:20AM

So take stats out of the picture.

Death_Claw January 08, 2008 10:14AM

Exactly

Dwoggurd January 08, 2008 09:18AM

Form stats are independent of race and spec choises.

DurNominator(VIP) January 08, 2008 10:48AM

But

Dwoggurd January 08, 2008 10:53AM

Weak form is not a combo

DurNominator(VIP) January 08, 2008 11:25AM

Re: Weak form is not a combo

Dwoggurd January 08, 2008 11:32AM

I agree. Comparing with warrior - bad idea..
