What I got out of that thread was that glowing and humming gear probably hurts your assassination success rate to a small degree.

By association, a statement like that might also suggest that heavy/"loud" gear like plate-mail might also hurt your chance of success, but I think this might be a little less likely than the glowing/humming thing. Then again, there's precedence for it in the new armor system.
