Positive. Absolutely positive.

I wish I had it logged. I have played two sneaky classes recently one dark-elf assassin (which is different due to perma-sneak) and this thief.

With the dark elf I noticed absolutely nothing like this unless the room was no longer civilized.

I have played multiple sneaky classes over the years many many times dark-elf/felar/half-elf/half-drow/human assassins elf/human/half-elf thieves. It was a long time ago that I played them 2-3yrs and they could hardly be considered successful. Having said that I never once noticed this happening or remember this happening and it might just be me not remembering. I brought it here to see if anyone has had similar experiences.

I might roll the same combo with the same gear and see if I can log it. It literally went like this. I'm guild sitting and a potential enemy warrior runs through Galadon out the East gate. I hide/sneak. Run out onto the eastern. No enlarge. Just rested/eaten/drank/quaffed flying (a prerequisite imo if I am going to chase someone without being seen. Mvs for chasing + and do not want hunger/thirst bringing me out of hiding.) Trundling along the Eastern in the enemy's footsteps. I scan east and see the enemy at an entrance to a turning off the eastern. Hid/sneak again. Walk east to blackjack and - 'You step out of the shadows.' I didn't even notice at first until the warrior (not duergar) acknowledges me. I actually had to read back through the client to see what brought me out. No invoker spells. No druid wilderness. No quicksand - not that it would have mattered at level 18. I was probably flying anyway to avoid being tripped should the blackjack go awry. Similar things happened in various other cities.

I'm pretty pedantic about how I play sneaky classes as well. I remember at the time I would have had 2-3 glowing pieces of armor and a glowing weapon. No humming eq at all. Also, some of the armor I wore probably falls into the 'heavy armor/bone armor/dragonbone armor' categories. The majority was light armor however. I was at approx. half my weight carry capacity +/- 10 lbs for dodge, more likely under than over.

Question about sneak.

istirith January 14, 2008 01:38PM

Always been a chance for it to fail, even at 100%.

alansmithee January 16, 2008 05:33PM

Watch that terrain

callowin January 16, 2008 05:21AM

I am going to take their silence as a yes.

Never understood the need for a timer on sneak~

torak January 16, 2008 07:06AM

I threw it out on officials. Will see if anyone answers. nt

Isildur(VIP) January 15, 2008 02:25PM

It happened to me recently too.

Pro January 15, 2008 12:44PM

Everyonce in a while, my Felar Assassin use to do it as well. NT

dragomir January 15, 2008 11:06AM

Typing sneak while already sneaking has a chance to cancel sneak. Not sure if its a bug or what. nt

silencedstatik January 15, 2008 07:30AM

I would think that only matters if you can fail sneak at 100%

ExPaladin(VIP) January 15, 2008 07:52AM

I'm fairly sure you can fail sneak at 100%. n/t

Death_Claw January 15, 2008 12:58PM

Actually noticed that too, a couple of days ago

gilka January 14, 2008 11:34PM

I've been stepping out more recently as well from sneak falling randomly. n/t

Isildur(VIP) January 14, 2008 04:11PM

Positive. Absolutely positive.

istirith January 14, 2008 04:50PM

Maybe you failed the sneak. nt

The Forsaken(VIP) January 14, 2008 05:47PM

It's possible to fail perfected sneak, I did so occasionally with Nanorab. nt

Yhorian(VIP) January 14, 2008 06:19PM

I actually remember this happening to me when I played my first thief...

Krilcov January 14, 2008 04:13PM

I never noticed this, and played a felar assassin for ~350 hours.

Balrahd(VIP) January 14, 2008 03:43PM

Felar or very bad morale can affect your sneak. n/t

debriguy January 14, 2008 02:40PM

I've played a felar assassin and don't recall having this problem. NT

berserk_eagle January 14, 2008 05:31PM

Uh... Felar? ~

Krilcov January 14, 2008 03:37PM

It's pretty straightforward generally. Could you have been enlarged?

Jib January 14, 2008 01:53PM

I remember the imms saying something different:

NeverMindTheWarlocks January 14, 2008 03:06PM

This is what I was wondering.

istirith January 14, 2008 03:10PM

I played a thief for 200 hours and never noticed such a thing. Long time ago, though nt

Drokk January 14, 2008 10:39PM

No.. Not enlarged.

istirith January 14, 2008 02:01PM

Re: No.. Not enlarged.

Death_Claw January 15, 2008 01:15PM

question...

shane January 14, 2008 02:38PM

This is the thing.

istirith January 14, 2008 02:52PM

Re: This is the thing.

Isildur(VIP) January 14, 2008 04:13PM

Perfected sneak by level 10 hide and sneak are the only skills I ever

istirith January 14, 2008 04:35PM

I was looking for something else I thought endorsed your point but found this instead:

Jib January 14, 2008 03:10PM

The character was about 30 hrs old I had noticed this maybe 3 times. nt
