My point. Terrain + expertise is nice but you've traded the usual ranger niche (forest + survivalist) for another niche. Don't get me wrong, I like the customization but right now the ranger got the weakest bit. There was a discussion on officials (if you can call 2 replies sans imm involvement a discussion) on ranger edges. I see a lot of overlap here and note that the "I dislike this (N)PC type" edge was lifted from ADnD. Just seems vanilla. And I know I do not have to take any edges and that there are racial, general edges out there. But it seems odd that racial, general edges are better than class-specific edges. And right now that's my thinking. We'll see once my current ranger gets some more levels and edges but I just don't see how these edges open a new wrinkle in either tactics or RP. PAW, rangers are already very niche and the niches created by some edges seem so small to border on useless. Make sense?
