Snare is crucial, and pounce is only useful in hometerrain (plains or marsh), unless you're also an explorer (which means no savage blow) (n/t)

Good Fort Ranger Build

bloodmoon March 05, 2012 11:41AM

I know one thing I'll never do again, savage plainsrunner

falchiron March 05, 2012 01:22PM

Without a doubt, human savage/mountains, STR based with power ambush

zoskia March 05, 2012 01:14PM

Rasst was felar marsh explorer, I think that's pretty good for kill-sealing, though probably better with insects than fort powers. (n/t)

vortexmagus March 05, 2012 01:17PM

Rasst had insects. KTHXBYE.

zoskia March 05, 2012 01:18PM

I think it mostly depends on where you're looking for PK.

vortexmagus March 05, 2012 01:12PM

I'm thinking Hero PK with this character, and I wanted to try a felar, so most likely Felar Savage or something, but I'm tossing up on the terrain, I hated my last mountaineer, and snare was just too damn good to give up. NT

bloodmoon March 05, 2012 01:25PM

You'll be gimped as felar until you get good gear to offset low str/dmg, also no power ambush (n/t)

zoskia March 05, 2012 01:26PM

Felar's got 550 exp penalty and not very good bonuses until hero.

vortexmagus March 05, 2012 03:07PM

True, but I didn't notice too big a difference with Lethmitel, and I had Power Ambush. It might've been just the 22 halfie strength, but I feel I can live without it. NT

bloodmoon March 05, 2012 01:32PM

Looking at Lethmitel PBF

zoskia March 05, 2012 01:46PM

To be fair, fort ranger is a huge disadvantage.

vortexmagus March 05, 2012 03:05PM

Yes, I learned alot as Lethmitel, though, and I'm pretty sure I could do it better, I Just wanted backrake this time around, hence no mountaineer.

bloodmoon March 05, 2012 02:00PM

Deft harbinger edge with Maran talismans seems like it could be neat. They're level 45 at 51, with things like wrath, prismatic spray, and light of heaven.~

ibuki March 05, 2012 12:21PM

Agreed. You will need at least 19 int to get the edge though.

Forsooth March 05, 2012 01:06PM

not 19, had it on my svirf ranger. (n/t)

Irawi March 05, 2012 06:22PM

Sweet, thanks for this. Pretty much from what everyone has been saying, I'd be willing to sacrifice snare for pounce, but does plainsrunner get any progs on staff/spear? jw. NT

bloodmoon March 05, 2012 01:12PM

Pounce doesn't even come close to snare for PK effectiveness

zoskia March 05, 2012 01:17PM

I was thinking that, I remember how critical snare was for some of my rangers to even have a chance, and I've never played without it (Most of my rangers were pre neo-ranger) My only realy newer ranger was Lethmitel..NT

bloodmoon March 05, 2012 01:19PM

Snare is crucial, and pounce is only useful in hometerrain (plains or marsh), unless you're also an explorer (which means no savage blow) (n/t)

Forsooth March 05, 2012 01:22PM

Well...

Forsooth March 05, 2012 11:53AM

That sounds like a great defensive build, but perhaps I should've specified, I'm looking for something to seal some good solo kills with. NT

bloodmoon March 05, 2012 12:03PM

Felar Plainsrunner Explorer. Elf Forester Animist

Sam March 05, 2012 11:47AM

Pursuit is just a plainsrunner skill right? I'm not too big a fan of losing snare, though, that was the cause of the few kills I had with Lethmitel. NT

bloodmoon March 05, 2012 11:58AM

As an explorer you'll get some chance of pursuit everywhere (n/t)

Felar: Hunter Plainsrunner

Re: Felar: Hunter Plainsrunner

bloodmoon March 05, 2012 11:47AM

Hmm... I thought that Hunter got a maledict for mvs...n/t
