I decided to take this discussion here, as not to mess up my battlefield thread. Here is my opinion on nexus and village after four hundred hours.
Village Powers
As a separate issue, many complain about the strength of the village. Truthfully, if someone could count I doubt I had been hit by more than ten or twenty deathblows in the life of Darikir. I would say bloodthirst and critical strike caused me far more problems than deathblow ever did. I have immense respect for the less dexy classes who make Nexus work as playing a more dexy build definitely helped me more than any of my last tries.
Nexus Powers
The only thing that truly stinks about nexus powers, is that if you happen to be alone they only help you offset your weakness against the village. Vanguard is nice, but I wish there were more to it if alone. I know everyone will say gather preps, but I eventually found that if my opponent hit me and it did no damage they aren't staying. I'd rather spend my coin on the healer, which I did to no end, than waste half my day gathering preps that would just be stolen or sacrificed if I did fall.
I did wish that there was a counter balance to villagers taking magical items from a nexun and giving them to Tahren. I wished that a nexun had something to take from a villager to the couriers at the Isle.
Also, the fact that couriers are invisible is really annoying if you are trying to fix the veil with no key. That, and a villager can find Tahren on his first try yet I have to search for couriers and then wait if they are all gone.
Nexus Role
Many people complain about the role nexus plays in Thera. I will say after playing a while, I think the role deserves to be there. There are too many people who only login to the strong side. Nexuns are not evil, any more than a maran killing someone is evil. An imperial, maran, and nexun all kill someone because they believe in something. You may not like what they believe in, but it is no different than one of our soldiers at war in my eyes. They are all armies on the field, soldiers fighting soldiers, and every side believes their own to be right.
