Simple solution? Make a real road lead to the giant fucking fortress tucked away in the mountains. Thematically, it's retarded in the extreme to make the path to this place be a dried riverbed at the edge of some rural farmland. Mechanically, it promotes complete grabastic behavior by Outlander, which works both for and against the Fortress. Psychologically, it appeals to griefing pricks who camp there for hours and exploit it. Balance-wise, I find it hard to believe that the whole intricate web of CF's gameplay equilibrium will be torn apart like spider silk in a hurricane's path if this handful of rooms were altered to make the situation less stupid.
