I've been working on some thoughts to this end for a post on the officials. I am fairly certain I have a good idea of where some interested players could be drawn from, but if the game is difficult to pick up then retention becomes the bigger issue. Personally, I think that gear information needs to be more open. I wouldn't even mind being full sacced as a newb, which woefully I am, if I knew where any decent gear was for ME. The non limited gear list is sparse, and the wiki lists here are outdated and in many cases does not give an indication of where the item can be found. I don't even need to know exactly where, just the area and if it's on a mob or not. The rest I can figure out. Handouts are pretty much what sustains people with low item knowledge, and losing all of them is going to be a major blow every time.
