His stupid log comments aside, nothing wrong with posting these logs at all.
The goodie should be held to the standard of a goodie. Goodies killing goodies is bad. The evil imperial realizes he can't defeat his enemy on even footing. What's his next step? Crush the psyche of the maran. Subvert his will. It's a fantastic way to defeat a more powerful enemy in terms of brute force.
The shitty part is this goody, like Jalim's goodies and many others... Will probably just act like it didn't happen "cuz mechanics." This guy should at a minimum be consulting Acolytes immediately and facilitating an Acolytes chance to actually roleplay being an Acolyte. As in, keeping Maran from the dark side which this conjurer is obviously slipping to if he is killing goodies in his zealous efforts to kill evil. It's NOT acceptable to kill goodies for any reason.
Let's pretend you had charm person around still. You charm a Maran and make him kill a goodie. The same outcome should occur, of some sort. The Maran knows they did it and IN CHARACTER shouldn't be using game mechanics as an excuse to pretend it didn't happen. Imagine in real life you were drugged, killed some innocents, and then woke up the next morning with memory intact. That will affect you. You won't forgive yourself "because drugged." I promise. Unless of course you are a psychopath.
Now obviously I don't contend that roleplay should be so one dimensional. The Maran player could take this in many directions. Self harm as repentance. Actively turning further towards the dark side and letting the blood shed turn him evil. Especially since it's supported by lore. Becoming a sort of outcast from Fort, remaining good and sticking to his guns to continue zealously hunting evil. He may be turned neutral/evil based on an immortal's opinion, but it should not matter. He might continue the fight with axe and shield block.
The casting aside of roleplay so often on the basis of mechanical arguments or to protect the character from the consequences of a living world is horse shit. The whole point of the game is that your character CAN be affected, against its will, by external sources. Pretending like nothing ever affects your character in such a way and maintaining a stream line, cookie cutter approach as some do is shit.
