Not a tactic? It's a brilliant tactic.

His stupid log comments aside, nothing wrong with posting these logs at all.

The goodie should be held to the standard of a goodie. Goodies killing goodies is bad. The evil imperial realizes he can't defeat his enemy on even footing. What's his next step? Crush the psyche of the maran. Subvert his will. It's a fantastic way to defeat a more powerful enemy in terms of brute force.

The shitty part is this goody, like Jalim's goodies and many others... Will probably just act like it didn't happen "cuz mechanics." This guy should at a minimum be consulting Acolytes immediately and facilitating an Acolytes chance to actually roleplay being an Acolyte. As in, keeping Maran from the dark side which this conjurer is obviously slipping to if he is killing goodies in his zealous efforts to kill evil. It's NOT acceptable to kill goodies for any reason.

Let's pretend you had charm person around still. You charm a Maran and make him kill a goodie. The same outcome should occur, of some sort. The Maran knows they did it and IN CHARACTER shouldn't be using game mechanics as an excuse to pretend it didn't happen. Imagine in real life you were drugged, killed some innocents, and then woke up the next morning with memory intact. That will affect you. You won't forgive yourself "because drugged." I promise. Unless of course you are a psychopath.

Now obviously I don't contend that roleplay should be so one dimensional. The Maran player could take this in many directions. Self harm as repentance. Actively turning further towards the dark side and letting the blood shed turn him evil. Especially since it's supported by lore. Becoming a sort of outcast from Fort, remaining good and sticking to his guns to continue zealously hunting evil. He may be turned neutral/evil based on an immortal's opinion, but it should not matter. He might continue the fight with axe and shield block.

The casting aside of roleplay so often on the basis of mechanical arguments or to protect the character from the consequences of a living world is horse shit. The whole point of the game is that your character CAN be affected, against its will, by external sources. Pretending like nothing ever affects your character in such a way and maintaining a stream line, cookie cutter approach as some do is shit.

Why is every Eke log killing elves with crushing hand? (n/t)

Zheeser 260 February 13, 2018 04:47PM

You're supposed to be a dick IN character. (n/t)

saagkri 279 February 09, 2018 09:20AM

I dunno

Lokith 484 February 09, 2018 11:16AM

How is this abusing a game mechanic?

Rhyaldrin 374 February 09, 2018 01:53PM

Pretty simple really

Lokith 490 February 09, 2018 03:35PM

You summon Ghaelek to hurt his body. You summon wilder elves to hurt his soul.

Rhyaldrin 325 February 09, 2018 04:39PM

Not a tactic? It's a brilliant tactic.

Matrik 419 February 09, 2018 04:17PM

Real-life parallel

starbright 431 February 10, 2018 07:09PM

He's a Maran. Not a US Marine.

Matrik 309 February 11, 2018 06:29PM

I said the same thing re: remorse

starbright 298 February 12, 2018 02:31AM

Yep missed that last bit on your post.

Matrik 274 February 12, 2018 03:07AM

You imply US marines are good :) (n/t)

Kstatida 300 February 11, 2018 06:08AM

US marines are orderly neutral, family still enslisted (n/t)

Zheeser 278 February 13, 2018 04:49PM

Yeah, I was more drawing an analogy of following ethical rules which are part of an organization

starbright 302 February 12, 2018 02:35AM

That's actually attributed (most likely falsely as with all bullshit) to Arnaud Amalric during Albigensian Crusade

Kstatida 282 February 12, 2018 02:55AM

In my family we say:

Matrik 291 February 12, 2018 03:08AM

Ah, family traditions

Kstatida 295 February 12, 2018 04:19AM

Nazis on the beach? (n/t)

starbright 267 February 11, 2018 04:33AM

to be clear...

Welverin 413 February 09, 2018 04:55PM

To be clear

Zheeser 241 February 13, 2018 04:50PM

Maybe

Matrik 308 February 09, 2018 07:00PM

Its not irrelevant

Welverin 310 February 10, 2018 10:36AM

I guess you don't logic good.

Matrik 410 February 10, 2018 04:23PM

Not really...

Welverin 355 February 12, 2018 09:04AM

Kez 282 February 09, 2018 04:28PM

There’s an edge for that.

wrathpuppet 345 February 09, 2018 06:10PM

I agree. My post was implying that the player's being a dick OOC by exploiting this mechanic. (n/t)

saagkri 272 February 09, 2018 11:30AM

someone is a slow learner. nice setup, crafty. nt

The Forsaken(VIP) 313 February 09, 2018 08:44AM
