I really dislike the randomness. And I know the immortals/some weirdos like it. (Note: I'm not insulting people who like the randomness. It's just not my thing.)

Compromise idea: a free "roll the bones" is given every time you get a form or form tier and only usable for that tier. So there would be four edges to prevent saving low level roll the bones for higher tiers. "Roll the Bones: Tier 4" etc. And maybe you could only use each once? So you have the option between using it for your major or minor but not both. And then youd have to spend edge points to roll again via normal roll the bones edge. Get rid of SOME of the randomness while still keeping the spirit of the roll?

Although ideally I'd prefer to just have them all balanced so that all of the forms are useful and not considered awful, I doubt that will ever happen. Not because of the IMMs inability to balance but because certain forms are built for certain situations (and that's ok). Its just that too many of those certain situations (such as group fights in the above situation) are no longer the norm.
