Focused on the 6 rounds of random lag he did, but not what you could have done differently.
Obviously, this log starts at about the halfway point anyways (both characters somewhere around 60% hp). Here's what we know:
- Fighting an established character with decent skills and decent gear that relies on parry for all of his defense
- Knows swords so can defend those decently.
- Can lag somewhat, due to bat and/or fend.
- Out of range cabal-mate that can retrieve.
So.. obvious answer: Let your out of range dude retrieve. That's not the fun answer, but the most obvious one. One powerless character fighting another caballed character is, by nature, one-sided. Let your guy retrieve, then engage once you have your own powers helping you out.
If RP prevents that obvious solution, you need to fight. Fair enough. First of all, what weapon spec should you be using?
Paladins know swords, and champions rely on parry for defense. So that probably isn't ideal since he should be (and was) defending decently. Sure, you get riposte, but he only gets 3-4 attacks per round anyways, so that doesn't give you much of an advantage. So what exactly does sword give you? Flurry? Even with a decent 5-hit flurry you didn't do much damage with his dam redux. Is there another option with that spec (ie, jab spam)? Or would another spec (pincer, cranial, whatever) have been more effective?
No idea what your other specs are, but I can't imagine that sword is your best option there. So instead of focusing on the fact that he did six rounds of lag between when you were half-dead and when you were whole-dead..what could YOU have done differently? I feel like one or two pincers, followed by a disembowel, or maybe a boneshatter/cranial or something may have at least made this a more competitve fight.
