shrubs and thick walls of pampas grass frame your view of the cold waters
below.  The ground here is a mix of sandy soil and clay, the rocks worn 
smooth from occasional flooding of the river as it comes from the mountains
to the north.  On the far bank to the east, the steep slope is impassable,
but a muddy path on this side leads down through the rocks to the river.
