The Breaching of the Walls of the Ostalagiah Ruins 
  You climb atop the pile of rubble and ash which once stood as the
western wall of Ostalagiah.  It served its purpose well, but not well 
enough.  It now stands in ruins, smoldering remains of what was once a
mighty city.  After many years of war the united fronts finally destroyed
the wall, through which a flood of dwarven, elven and human soldiers came. 
After freeing the slaves, ransacking the city and turning the walls to
rubble, the united front turned around and headed back to their respective
homelands to the north.  While that ancient war is over, the sight of 
distant burning fires and a village settled to the west of here gives one
reason to believe that it is not the only war that occurs throughout these
ruined buildings.

OOC IC CHAT ICLY OOCLY 'IN CHARACTER' 'OUT OF CHARACTER'
As a roleplaying game, Carrion Fields requires that you remain IC (In
Character) at all times.  All forms of communication here (say, tell,
gtell, yell, pray) are to be used as though it was the character speaking,
not the player.  

There are two exceptions to this:
1) The Newbie Channel. See HELP NEWBIE CHANNEL for the purpose and proper
    use of this.
2) Dealings with an immortal over issues such as bug or similar game mechanic
    issue that cannot be discussed In Character.  Where possible, use prays
    to alert the staff to these sorts of problems.

Going Out Of Character (OOC) with other mortals should never be necessary,
and is considered by most to indicate very poor roleplaying.  We have no
'OOC chat channels' on Carrion Fields (and no interest in implementing them)
because we do not wish to encourage this style of play.

The "official language" of Carrion Fields is English.  The staff and players
cannot necessarily evaluate roleplay in other languages, and thus they are not
counted as IC communication.

Visible immortals are In Character, and will respond to most communication
as their role would dictate.  For example, if you ask a Chaotic Evil immortal
for help finding food, he may demand a sacrifice, mislead you, taunt you, or
worse.

Administrative issues, such as inappropriate names, lack of description,
cheating or other rules violations, etc. are always handled OOC by immortals.
If you suspect another character of any of these, report it immediately via
pray; do not bring it up to the character or over public channels. Note that 
the Laws of Thera are all IC, and are enforced by the members of the Tribunal
cabal. Please read the respective helpfiles to learn the difference between
the two.
