  This road is a bit nosier than the others in the Imperial Lands.  Voices ring 
from the surrounding buildings, building towards pleasure, then ending in 
cries of pain.  Each building is marked with a sword and shield inlaid over 
the symbol of the Imperial Codex.  The road itself is a perfect black stone, 
and seems without blemish.  In fact, there are no ridges or imperfections, 
giving the feeling that the entire road is a single piece of stone.  Looming
in the south lies the Imperial Hall of Arts, its massive entryway beckoning
all who have an appreciation for culture.

The Avenue of Conquest

An Archway Entering the Imperial City
  A great black stone archway spans the road from the eastern side to the
western side.  At the zenith of the great structure the symbol of the
Imperial Codex is emblazoned in gold relief.  To the north of the archway,
the Imperial City spreads throughout a deep valley.  The spires of a great
palace shine in the sunlight to the northwest.  The road you stand on leads
to an intersection to the west, while the Imperial Road disappears into the
mountains to the south.  The mountains block any movement to the east and
a soot-covered wall blocks your way to the west.

can see to the north and east.  Fields of crops dot the hillsides 
as you travel past.  The farms here seem to be well maintained 
and the few people you do see are hard at work tending their 
crops or preparing for the next day.  Far to the west you can 
make out the greenery of a forest or woodlands. Far to the north 
you see a line of snow covered mountains, to the east and north
the road leads through the rolling hills.
