And I only mention this to play devils advocate. But he did try to bash. It was working until the bard finally evaded one. And the first opportunity the bard got, he successfully sang symphonic echoes on the first try. That cuts the chances of bashing him further by at least half. So now that's out of the question, because you'll just end up lagging yourself to death.

And lets say he pincered. Pincer lags you three, and them two, if it even hits. That's enough time to sing yet another song. Let's say pincer is either distorted, misses or only hits one attack. That leaves two to three rounds of combat for you to flee and sing frightful fiend. At this point, the fight is over regardless for the giant.

Powerful fiend = dead warrior. Hell, there's only a small handful of race/class builds that can actually survive a powerful fiend.

That leaves only one (unreliable) option left: Resist mental. I'm not convinced that resist mental even does much for "low" intelligence characters.

Edited to add: All that said, if I'm a melee class, especially as a giant, the second symphonic echoes lands, I'm out of the fight. Because I know what's coming next. And symphonic echoes makes fighting a fiend way more difficult than it should be. Personally, I believe that if symphonic echoes didn't affect you while fighting an illusion, it would balance things out.
