leads straight across the plains, across the desert to the city of Hamsah
Mu'tazz. The trail north and south extends around the edge of the city of
Galadon, skirting along its border. The road west leads into the grand

By far the most congested crossroads of all those that surround Galadon, the
old road has been ground into nothing but dry dirt. The trail kicks up
clouds of dirt at a step, old trails leading off in all directions. Farms
fill the countryside, extending as far as the eye can see. The road east
leads straight across the plains, across the desert to the city of Hamsah
Mu'tazz. The trail north and south extends around the edge of the city of
Galadon, skirting along its border. The road west leads into the grand
eastern gate of Galadon. You notice a small sign off in the tall grass.

runs by to the north.

Several people are standing here, waiting for their eyes to adjust to the
dim light cast by the oil lamps lining this large room. In the opposite

the crowds are over in that corner. A large fireplace takes up the corner
far to the east, and away to the south is the hall leading to the private
dining rooms and the upstairs rooms.

made by knives and daggers. Various stains give the table a mottled look.

Constructed of great slabs of closely fitted stone, a wide and well-
traveled road runs to the east and west here. Neat rows of green, leafy
vegetables fill a small, cultivated field to the north. Beyond this
pasture, cultivated fields and small farms spread out to the limit of the
horizon in all directions. Stretching off to the south of the road as
far as the eye can see is a sparse forest of twisted and stunted trees.

The grounds here are caked with blood and unrecognizable gore. Skeletal
remains of defeated foes and enslaved servants remain fettered along the
grounds and walls here. Multiple cracks line the walls, though judging
by the exceptional masonry, dwarves likely built much of this stronghold.
The smell of burning flesh and rotted and diseased corpses is almost
overwhelming. Many of the tortures and executions must have occurred in
this area of the ruins. Dark shrubbery and bloodied brush is to the north
of these grounds, apparently going into the woods where nothing seems to
stir.

You climb atop the pile of rubble and ash which once stood as the
western wall of Ostalagiah. It served its purpose well, but not well
enough. It now stands in ruins, smoldering remains of what was once a
mighty city. After many years of war the united fronts finally destroyed
the wall, through which a flood of dwarven, elven and human soldiers came.
After freeing the slaves, ransacking the city and turning the walls to
rubble, the united front turned around and headed back to their respective
homelands to the north. While that ancient war is over, the sight of
distant burning fires and a village settled to the west of here gives one
reason to believe that it is not the only war that occurs throughout these
ruined buildings.

Before a Fortified Hillock
A large mound of earth has been pushed up here, forming a strategically
planned barrier to the village just beyond. Behind the earthen barricade
stand the gates -- heavy, massive, fortified iron gates that require much
muscle-power to move -- and beyond them you can see the faces of numerous
huts, most looking as rugged as the hills before you. In the distance,
people move about within the secluded village, and smoke drifts up from
various campfires and cookstoves. The gruff sound of barbaric voices drifts
to you on the wind, as does the occasional burst of laughter and clang of
metal.
